Firstly, Best Wishes to you all for a Happy and Healthy New Year, it has to be better than 2021.
We have been fortunate in New Zealand – over 90% double vaccinated and some of us with three. One of the worst aspects of the pandemic is not being able to travel and meet up with all our fellow philatelists.
I hope you are all managing to stay well. I am sure like us you are missing meeting up with all your philatelic friends. I don’t think non-philatelists realise what a great hobby we are lucky to be part of. There is the well-known part of competing at exhibitions but there are two other parts not always talked about: 1st – the incredible number of philatelic friends you make from many different countries; 2nd – is the pleasure you get when you see visitors looking at your material and enjoying it.
Norman and I went to Dubai in January for the EMIRATES 2022 exhibition – not only did we meet up with some old friends, but we made some new ones. The exhibition was great BUT on return to New Zealand we had to spend 10 days in a Government managed isolation hotel – NOT great!
A very big ‘Thank You’ to Pascal Bandry who once again organized the ‘Best Maxicard’ Competition. Congratulations to Germany (1st), Hong Kong (2nd) and third equal Malaysia and Monaco.
CONGRATULATIONS to those who have exhibited in 2021 : Valenciennes 2021, NOTOS 2021.
Both exhibitions showed that Maximaphily has a strong following in some countries – keep up the good work.
New GUIDELINES: These are on the FIP website under ‘Regulations’ and it is hoped they will be formally approved at the FIP Congress in Jakarta, August 9th, 2022.
DELEGATES: I have not been able to get the names of Delegates from some countries – if you receive this Newsletter and you are no longer the Delegate, could you PLEASE advise Pascal and myself the name and email address of your replacement.
Stay safe and I hope to see many of you in August at INDONESIA 2022 – Covid permitting Once again, Best Wishes to you and your families for 2022.
